I think your television and my parents television are somehow "linked" it is broken too..

My remote control has run out of batteries.
Needless to say, I am now bloody petrified.
As a qualified engineer, would you like me to drop by and fix it? I can also look at your TV set whilst there!! :-)
Unreliable Witness, just be glad it's only your remote control that has run out of batteries.
