I do want to be

a Quaker. And yet when my presence at a book launch is required, it's so easy to stumble into a chi-chi boutique and spend £[amount deleted for reasons of taste and decency] on a frock. So easy.

If I wear it every day for the rest of summer, it might count as moderation. Perhaps.

It's a bloody good frock, though.

A posh frock will never be an indecent expense. When you are old and grey (like me) it will sparkle at the back of the wardrobe (like mine) and remind you of previous glory days.
May we have a pic ?

Alas, Sally, not only do I not own a digital camera (and can't afford to buy one because I've just spent £[Ouch!] on said dress), but I feel these things are best left to the imagination. Suppose I show you the frock and you hate it. Where would we be then? I can promise it is as glorious as you imagine it to be.

I always love my friends' frocks when they love them too, but I am hapy to imagine you gloriously stunning at the launch.
